Chris Wyles, GM/COO at Bald Peak Colony Club in Melvin Village, N.H., saw 10,000 of the club's trees downed by a single storm in 2017. Wyles successfully led the club's recovery while enhancing Bald Peak's reputation as a destination for members. Under his leadership, the club generated support for capital improvements such as a golf practice facility, introduced activities like Bocce Night and golf skills challenges, and improved F&B by 31% in five seasons. For his work, Wyles was awarded the Excellence in Club Management® Mead Grady Award this past year. Club + Resort Business.

Worldwide, hotels are rapidly improving luxury and comfort amenities to give their guests unforgettable experiences. Hotels like Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts offer travelers La Bouche Rouge lipstick with sparkling wine. Others like the Waldorf Astoria Chengdu in China have curtains that automatically open, revealing the skyline, as they enter their rooms. The experience goes beyond the hotel as many have partnered with nearby businesses to offer items like free beer vouchers and books from local writers. The Washington Post.

Successful clubs cultivate community. To establish this dynamic, set clear standards of acceptable and unacceptable behavior. Implement these rules by involving members in creating them and communicate them in new-member orientation. Enforce the standards firmly and fairly and provide the staff a safe and productive environment to build community. Global Golf Advisors.
